India's first digital nomad village

  • On July 14, Yakten village in Pakyong district of Sikkim has been declared as India’s first digital nomad village under the ‘Nomad Sikkim’ initiative.
  • It was inaugurated by MLA and Women, Child, Senior Citizens and Disabled Welfare Department Advisor Pamina Lepcha.
  • It is a step towards creating a sustainable, community-driven destination for digital nomads from across the country and the world.
  • The project is a joint effort of the Pakyong district administration and NGO Sarvhitey, which aims to turn scenic spots into year-round workplaces for digital workers.
