Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana

  • The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched the 'Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana' to enhance legal aid for members of the armed forces and their families.
  • The announcement was made at the North Zone Regional Conference in Srinagar.
  • 'Reaffirming Constitutional Approach to Justice for Defence Personnel and Tribals' was the theme of the conference.
  • The conference focused on strengthening constitutional justice for defence personnel and tribal groups.
  • Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court and Executive Chairman, NALSA, presided over the event.
  • The scheme aims to expand the existing legal aid clinics by creating a specialised network within the Sainik Boards at the district, state and central levels.
  • The Sainik Boards currently serve as important welfare centres for both active and retired servicemen.
  • Under this initiative, these centres will also provide legal aid to military families.
