- India has announced its 73-member squad for the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships.
- The championship will be held from September 27 to October 5 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
- This is the first time India will host the prestigious para athletics event.
- The team comprises 19 women athletes and will be led by top javelin thrower Sumit Antil.
- Renowned high jumper and three-time Paralympic medallist Mariyappan Thangavelu is not included in the team.
- Paralympic high jump bronze and silver medallist Sharad Kumar has also been left out of the team.
- Paris Paralympic club throw champion Dharambir Nain and two-time bronze medallist sprinter Preeti Pal will lead India as flag bearers in the opening ceremony.
