India's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system

  • An agreement was signed between Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) (promoted by NHAI) and ICICI Bank for India’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system.
  • The system will be implemented at Choryasi Fee Plaza on NH-48 in Gujarat.
  • The contract was signed in the presence of Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, Chairman, NHAI.
  • The signing of the contract agreement is a major step towards barrier-free tolling, which will enable seamless electronic toll collection through FASTag.
  • The Choryasi Fee Plaza will become the country’s first barrier-free toll plaza.
  • Additionally, an agreement for MLFF tolling was also signed for Gharaunda Fee Plaza in Haryana on NH-44.
  • The NHAI plans to implement MLFF tolling at 25 national highway plazas in the current financial year.
  • The system will enable FASTag and vehicle registration number-based tolling using RFID readers and ANPR cameras.
