India's first green ammonia complex

  • Andhra Pradesh will establish India's first green ammonia complex in Kakinada.
  • The foundation stone for AM Green's green hydrogen and green ammonia complex will be laid in Kakinada, marking a significant achievement for Andhra Pradesh in the clean energy sector.
  • The ceremony will be held on January 18th, presided over by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
  • The project was approved by the Andhra Pradesh government in January 2025, and the process from approval to implementation has been fast-tracked within a year.
  • An investment of approximately ₹83,000 crore has been made for the establishment of one of India's largest clean energy projects.
  • India's first and the world's largest green ammonia complex will be developed with a planned capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum.
  • The plant will operate in several phases, starting with 0.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2027, increasing to 1.0 MTPA in 2028, and reaching its full capacity of 1.5 MTPA by 2030.
  • This facility will be developed through the brownfield conversion of Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals' ammonia-urea complex.
