• The decision follows a resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly on June 24, 2024, requesting the Central Government to take necessary steps for the official change of the state's name under Article 3 of the Constitution.

• With this approval, the process of changing the state's name to “Keralalam” in keeping with its original linguistic and cultural identity will move forward.

• The Kerala Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution stating that the state's name is “Keralaam” in the Malayalam language.
