New Chief Advisor to the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance

  • Following the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Mr. Anand Kumar Pal (Indian Cost Accounts Service – ICoAS) has assumed charge as Chief Adviser (Cost) in the Department of Expenditure.
  • He is an officer of the 1997 batch of the ICoAS and previously served as Additional Chief Adviser (Cost) in the Ministry of Defence.
  • The Department of Expenditure serves as the nodal department within the Central Government for overseeing the Public Financial Management System and for matters related to State finances. It is responsible for implementing the recommendations of the Finance Commission and the Central Pay Commission, monitoring audit observations, and preparing the accounts of the Central Government.
  • The National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad, is an autonomous institution that functions under the administrative control of the Department of Expenditure.
