Renowned Urdu Poet Bashir Badr Passes Away

  • Renowned Urdu poet Bashir Badr passed away in Bhopal on May 28, 2026, at the age of 91.
  • He was born on February 15, 1935, in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, and his real name was Syed Mohammad Bashir.
  • He had been ailing for a long time and, during the final years of his life, was also battling an illness akin to dementia. His passing sent a wave of grief through the world of Urdu literature.
  • He served as an Urdu teacher at Aligarh Muslim University. Later, he became the Head of the Department of Urdu at Meerut College, a position he held for approximately 17 years. Meerut College is counted among the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Western Uttar Pradesh.
  • Alongside his teaching duties, he continued his literary endeavors and published several renowned poetry collections.
