Van Mahotsav 2026

  • Van Mahotsav is celebrated annually in India from July 1 to July 7.
  • It is a week-long national tree-planting campaign aimed at promoting environmental conservation, increasing the country's green cover, and fostering awareness among people about nature and trees.
  • In 2026, too, this campaign is being organized on a massive scale across the country, featuring various events such as tree plantation drives, public awareness programs, sapling distribution, and community participation activities.
  • The 2026 edition of Van Mahotsav is being held from July 1 to July 7.
  • The 77th Van Mahotsav was launched on July 1, 2026, across various districts of Manipur.
  • On this occasion, the state's Forest Department set a target to plant approximately 1.5 million (15 lakh) saplings under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0" (A Tree in Mother's Name 3.0) campaign.
  • A state-wide Van Mahotsav campaign was also launched in Assam on the same day. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has planned to plant 7 million (70 lakh) saplings in a phased manner starting from July 7, 2026.
  • Tree plantation programs will also be broadcast live from 50 locations during the campaign to ensure maximum public participation.
