- Odisha has taken a significant step towards accelerating its industrial development by attracting major investments in the food processing sector.
- The state has received investment proposals totaling ₹43,437 crore for the food processing sector. These proposals were announced during the ‘Odisha Food Pro-2026’ event held in New Delhi on August 7, 2026.
- This was the Odisha government's first sector-specific investment roadshow held outside the state, organized in collaboration with ASSOCHAM.
- On the first day of the event, the state government signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹41,748 crore with 27 companies. These proposals are expected to generate approximately 35,252 employment opportunities.
- Additionally, investment proposals worth ₹1,689 crore were received through 12 Investment Intent Forms (IIFs).
- These are estimated to create around 8,064 new jobs. Consequently, the total potential employment figure from both MoUs and investment proposals reached approximately 43,316 on the first day.
- According to the Odisha government, these investment proposals are not viewed merely as capital investments within the state.
- They are expected to boost food processing-related industries, supply chains, production, and employment opportunities.
- The government believes that this initiative could play a pivotal role in developing a robust and comprehensive food processing ecosystem in the state.
