International Film Festival


  • An international film festival kicked off in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on September 7, 2026.
  • Held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake, this four-day festival will run until September 10.
  • Based on the theme "Rang-e-Cinema" (Colors of Cinema), the event showcases Kashmir as a significant platform for art, culture, and global cinema.
  • The festival has received an overwhelming response from filmmakers worldwide; official reports indicate the receipt of over 1,100 submissions from 80 countries, with entries coming from a total of 92 nations.
  • Out of these, 135 films from 41 countries have been selected for screening at the festival.
  • Indian cinema holds the largest share among the selected films, with 64 Indian movies chosen for screening.
  • This is followed by 13 films from France and 8 from Iran.
  • The festival is not only an effort to bring international cinema to Kashmir but also a significant opportunity to showcase local art and culture to a global audience.
