New Command of the CISF

  • The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to implement a new change in its security and surveillance system, effective November 1, 2026.
  • Following approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the force will transition from its current regional structure to a command system based on specific sectors. The primary objective of this shift is to make the security of the nation’s critical infrastructure and strategic installations more effective, better coordinated, and specialized.
  • Under this new framework, eight of the CISF’s existing 11 surveillance sectors will be reorganized to align with functional requirements.
  • In this process, the Coal Sector—headquartered in Ranchi—will replace the Eastern Sector, while the Steel Sector—headquartered in Bhilai—will take the place of the Central Sector.
  • Similarly, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Sector, headquartered in Guwahati, will assume responsibilities in place of the North-Eastern Sector.
  • This reorganization will allow for a more effective focus on the unique security requirements of various industrial sectors.
