- The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has secured the 254th rank in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027.
- IISc once again emerged as India's highest-ranked institution, although this time, no Indian university made it into the global top 250.
- In the previous rankings, IISc was placed in the 201–250 band.
- This time, the institute achieved an overall score of 57.0 and shared the 254th position with Northeastern University in the US.
- The THE 2027 rankings evaluated 2,297 universities from across the globe.
- Institutions are assessed based on various parameters such as teaching quality, research environment, research impact, industry collaboration, and international outlook.
