DRDO and Indian air force flight test long range bomb



  • Team from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have successfully flight-tested the indigenously developed Long-Range (LR) Bomb on October 29, 2021.
  • Long-Range Bomb was tested from an aerial platform in Odisha’s Balasore.
  • It was release from the IAF fighter aircraft and was guided within specified limits, with accuracy to a land-based target.
  • Flight of the bomb and performance was monitored with the help of a number of range sensors, telemetry & radar and Electro-Optical Tracking System deployed by the Integrated Test Range.
  • Bomb has been designed & developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in Hyderabad in association with other DRDO laboratories.
