First Woman Vice Chancellor of JNU

  • The Ministry of Education has appointed Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit as the new Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University. She is the first woman vice-chancellor of JNU.
  • Pandit, 59, has been appointed for a period of five years.
  • Pandit will succeed M Jagadesh Kumar, who has been appointed as the chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • Prior to this appointment, Pandit was working as the Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule University in Maharashtra.
