- The ninth edition of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise 'Slinex' is being held in Visakhapatnam from March 07 to March 10, 2022.
- The exercise is being conducted in two phases: the port phase at Visakhapatnam on 07 March – 08 March 2022 and then the sea phase in the Bay of Bengal on 09 March – 10 March 2022.
- The Sri Lanka Navy will be represented by SLNS Sayurala, an advanced offshore patrol vessel and the Indian Navy by INS Kirch, a warship equipped with guided missiles.
- The objective of 'Slinex' is to enhance interoperability, improve mutual understanding and exchange best practices and procedures for multi-faceted maritime operations between the two navies.
