Tree City of the World, 2021

  • Mumbai and Hyderabad have been jointly recognized as the '2021 Tree Cities of the World' by the Arbor Day Foundation, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
  •  Hyderabad has been recognized for the second consecutive year.
  • In 2021, Hyderabad was the only city in India to be recognized as the '2020 Tree City of the World'.
  • Apart from Hyderabad and Mumbai, 136 other cities in 21 countries have been recognized in the third edition of the Tree City of the World list.
  • The 'Tree City of the World' program is being run by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
  • Under this program, those cities of the world are selected that promote 'Urban Forests / Urban Forests' and green environment.
