Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra 2022

• Maharashtra and Gujarat state celebrated their foundation day on 1st May.

• The States Reorganization Act was passed in July 1956, according to which 14 states and 6 union territories were established in India.

• On May 1, 1960, the bilingual state of Bombay was bifurcated into two separate states by the Bombay Reorganization Act, 1960.

• In which the state of Maharashtra was obtained for Marathi speaking people and Gujarat state for Gujarati speaking people.

• Gujarat was established as the 15th state of the Indian Union.
