India's New Foreign Secretary


  • Vinay Mohan Kwatra took charge as the new Foreign Secretary of India.
  • Shri Kwatra is a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
  • He will replace retired Harshvardhan Shringla.
  • Mr. Kwatra served as India's envoy to Nepal before taking over as Foreign Secretary.
  • Kwatra was India's ambassador to France before becoming the ambassador of Nepal.
  • Mr. Kwatra has served as a diplomat for more than 32 years.
  •  He has also held the position of a Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for two years between October 2015 and August 2017.
