- On June 23, 2022 Former DGP of Punjab Dinkar Gupta was appointed as the new Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA).
- CRPF Director General, Kuldiep Singh, was given additional charge of NIA in May 2021, following the retirement of Y C Modi.
- Dinkar Gupta will hold the post till March 31, 2024 or till further orders. It is the date of his retirement.
- Dinkar Gupta is having a Master’s degree in police administration. He has held the position of Director General of Punjab Police in 2019. He served this post for 2 years and 7 months.
- Later, he was shifted as Chairman of Punjab Police Housing Board, as he asked permission for a central deputation.
