New Chairman and CEO of Railway Board

• Anil Kumar Lahoti has been appointed as the new Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board.

• Anil Kumar Lahoti was earlier working as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) in Lucknow Division of Northern Railway.

• He is a 1984 batch IRSE officer who will succeed VK Tripathi on 1st January 2023.

• RC Lahoti, the 35th Chief Justice of India, is his elder brother.

• This is the first appointment of a Railway Board chairman after the government notified an integrated railway service under the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS).

• IRMS is a Group A service formed by amalgamating various Indian Railways services.
