- Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' became the new Prime Minister of Nepal.
- Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" of the Communist Party of Nepal joined hands with rival KP Sharma Oli of the CPN-UML and other smaller parties to become the new Prime Minister of Nepal.
- In the 275-member House, Prachanda claims the support of 170 MPs, including six from parties and four independents.
- With 89 seats, the Nepali Congress is the largest party, followed by the CPN-UML with 78 and the CPN-MC with 32.
- According to the President's Office, Prachanda has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the third time under Article 76(2) of the Constitution.
- He took oath on 26 December.
