Highest Civilian Award of Assam

• Dr Tapan Saikia won the highest civilian award of Assam.

• Assam's highest civilian award 'Assam Baibhav' was presented to renowned physician Dr. Tapan Saikia.

• He has received this award for his remarkable work in the field of Healthcare (Cancer Care) and Public Service.

• He was instrumental in creating awareness about cancer in Assam and other North-Eastern states.

• Tapan Saikia is currently the Director of Oncology Sciences at Jaslok Hospital.

• The Assam government also announced the winners of 'Assam Gaurav' and 'Assam Saurav' awards.

• A total of 15 eminent persons have been selected for this year's 'Assam Gaurav' award and five persons have been selected for the 'Assam Saurav' award.
