- Nigeria's ruling party candidate Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the presidential election.
- On 1 March, he was sworn in as the President of Nigeria, Africa's most populous country.
- Prior to this he was the Governor of Lagos State.
- Mr. Tinubu got 37% of the votes, while Mr. Abubakar, the nearest opposition candidate, got 29%.
- Mr Abubakar had also finished second in the last vote in 2019.
