Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) Report

  • As per the 5th cycle of Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE), Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala has been placed as the best among all tiger reserves in the country.
  • Periyar Reserve ranks first with an MEE score of 94.3%.
  • Satpura Tiger Reserve and Bandipur Tiger Reserve are at the second and third position respectively.
  • Since 2006, Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) is being used to assess tiger reserves across the country.
  • There are currently 53 tiger reserves in India. In the current cycle of MEE, 51 tiger reserves with an area of 73,765 sq km have been included.
  • The MEE suggested an overall improvement in the management effectiveness of tiger reserves.
  • The overall mean MEE score in the fourth cycle in 2018 was 70% while it is 77.92% in the fifth cycle evaluation.
