  • National Panchayati Raj Day (NPRD) is observed every year on 24 April.
  • It commemorates the day on which the 73rd Constitutional Amendment was passed in 1992.
  • National Panchayati Raj Day was first declared in 2010.
  • The day provides an opportunity for direct interaction with panchayat representatives across the country.
  • National Panchayati Raj Day (NPRD) was celebrated in Rewa on April 24, 2023 in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The NPRD was celebrated as a major event as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) with the government adopting a holistic approach (inclusive development).
  • The Prime Minister was the chief guest at the national function held at the Special Armed Forces Ground in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.
  • An integrated e-Gram Swaraj and GeM portal was inaugurated by the Prime Minister for public procurement at the Panchayat level.
  • The objective of e-Gram Swaraj and GeM integration is to enable Panchayats to procure their goods and services through GeM by leveraging the e-Gram Swaraj platform.
