- The World Health Organization announced that it has ended the global emergency of COVID-19.
- On 30 January 2020, WHO declared COVID-19 a Global Health Emergency following the recommendation of the Emergency Committee.
- The WHO said that the decision to lift the emergency does not signal the end of the pandemic.
- As of 3 May, globally, there have been 765,222,932 confirmed cases of COVID, including 6,921,614 deaths.
- In the first two years of the pandemic, 15 million more people died than the normal death toll.
- In Egypt, excess deaths were almost 12 times higher than normal deaths. In Pakistan this figure was eight times higher.
