- The Rajasthan cabinet approved the proposal of a high-level committee to create 19 new districts and three new divisions in the state.
- A high-level committee was constituted in March 2022 under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer Ramlubhaya.
- Now the total number of districts in Rajasthan will increase from 33 to 50.
- Jaipur district is divided into Jaipur and Jaipur Rural.
- Jodhpur district is divided into Jodhpur and Jodhpur Rural.
- Dudu will now be the smallest district of Rajasthan while Jaisalmer will remain the largest in terms of area.
- Apungarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City etc. are some of the new districts.
- Now the total number of divisions in the state will be 10. The new divisions are Banswara, Pali and Sikar.
- The ministers in-charge of the new districts will formally launch these new districts on 7th August.
- The creation of these new districts will improve administration and provide relief to the people who used to travel long distances to go to the district headquarters for various works.
