• Every year 22 September is celebrated as World Rhino Day.

• It was first announced by WWF-South Africa in 2010.

• In 2011, Lisa Jane Campbell wrote a mail to Rishja (a rhino lover) to see at least five species of rhinoceros alive in the world.

• Rhinos are negatively affected by poaching and deforestation.

• The one-horned rhinoceros is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List.
