- The number of Indian institutions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has increased from 75 last year to 91 this year.
- Only 31 institutions from India were included in the 2017 ranking. 91 Indian institutions have qualified for the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024.
- However, no Indian institute is included in the top 200 institutes in the world.
- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is the top ranked institute of India. It has come in the 201-250 band for the first time since 2017.
- Anna University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Mahatma Gandhi University and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences are the next highest ranked universities in India.
- These have been ranked in the 501-600 band. There are 20 newly ranked universities from India.
- Oxford University leads in The World University Rankings 2024.
- This is followed by Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology at second and third place respectively.
- The World University Rankings 2024 ranks 1,904 universities from 108 countries and territories.
