- Every year on 24th February, Central Excise Day is celebrated all over India.
- The main objective of this day is to honor the efforts, services and contributions of the 'Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs'.
- Central Excise Day is celebrated to mark the enactment of the 'Central Excise and Salt Act' on 24 February 1944.
- This Act was a combination of 11 Acts relating to excise and was passed to make changes in the law relating to salt and central duties.
- Later, in 1966, the Act was renamed as the Central Excise Act, 1944.
