• Asif Ali Zardari became the President of Pakistan for the second time by defeating PTI supported candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

• He succeeds Dr Arif Alvi, who completes his five-year tenure in September 2023 for another five months.

• The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

• Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa administered the oath to Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
