World Population Status-2024



  • According to the World Population Status-2024 report of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), India's population is estimated to reach 144 crore, of which 24 percent is in the 0-14 age group.
  • According to this report, India's population is estimated to double in 77 years.
  • 17 percent of India's population is within the 10-19 age range while 26 percent of the population is in the 10-24 age group.
  • 7 percent of India's population is aged 65 years and above, with life expectancy for men at 71 years and for women at 74 years.
  • In terms of population, China is at second place with 142.5 crores.
  • During the last census conducted in 2011, India's population was recorded at 121 crore.
