National Eligibility Test (NET)	Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university Minimum marks: General/Unreserved/EWS: 55% OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender: 50% Final year Master’s students can apply provisionally (must complete the degree within 2 years for JRF or 1 year for Ph.D. eligibility). Ph.D. holders with a Master’s completed before September 19th, 1991 get a 5% relaxation (50% marks eligibility). 4-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 75% marks (or equivalent grade) allows appearing for NET but only qualifies for JRF and Ph.D. admission (not Assistant Professor). Final-year students of a 4-year bachelor’s program can apply provisionally (must complete the degree within specified timelines based on qualification). Candidates with a 4-year bachelor’s degree can appear in any NET subject for Ph.D. irrespective of their bachelor’s discipline.
