International Archives Day

• International Archives Day is celebrated on 9 June to raise public awareness about the importance of records and archives.

• The goal of the day is to raise awareness about the importance of long-term archival preservation and access among the general public, private sector and public sectors.

• At the 2004 Vienna International Congress, 2000 participants passed a resolution urging the United Nations to have a day to recognize the importance of archives.
