new chairman of UPSC

• Preeti Sudan will take over as UPSC chairperson on August 1.

• Preeti Sudan is a former Union health secretary. She is currently a member of the commission.

• Her term will last till April 2025, when she turns 65.

• She is a 1983 batch (retired) IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre.

• She will replace Manoj Soni, who had resigned due to "personal reasons".
