India's first pollution control vessel

  • India's first pollution control vessel, Samudra Pratap, for the Indian Coast Guard has been designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
  • This is the first time that pollution control vessels are being indigenously designed and built.
  • Two pollution control vessels for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) are also being built by Goa Shipyard Limited.
  • It is 114.5 metres in length, 16.5 metres in width and will have a displacement of 4170 tonnes.
