National Consumer Day

  • National Consumer Day is observed every year on 24 December to highlight the importance of consumer movement.
  • The day is also celebrated to spread awareness about the rights and responsibilities of every consumer.
  • The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (replaced by the Consumer Protection Act 2019 from 20 July 2020) was enacted on 24 December 1986.
  • This year, the theme of National Consumer Day is "Virtual Hearings and Digital Access to Consumer Justice".
