India's first glass bridge

  • India's first glass bridge over the sea connecting the Tiruvalluvar statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
  • It has been built at a cost of Rs 37 crore. It is a 10-metre wide and 77-metre long bridge.
  • Once the bridge is built, visitors will be able to walk safely between the two iconic sites while overlooking the sea.
  • The arched arches on the glass bridge have been designed to withstand the salty air and high humidity coming from the sea.
