- International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) will announce the launch of the historic Bhagwan Buddha Trinetra Seva Abhiyan.
- This collaborative initiative sees the armed forces of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka come together to launch a unique motorcycle expedition from Lumbini (birthplace of Lord Buddha) in Nepal to Galle in Sri Lanka in partnership with IBC.
- The expedition comprising defence personnel from these countries will pass through major Buddhist heritage sites that symbolize the historic spread of Buddhism and strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties shared between these countries
- As the organising partner of the Indian chapter of the expedition, IBC will guide the participants through important Buddhist sites such as Sarnath, Bodh Gaya, Nalanda, Nagarjuna Sagar (Andhra Pradesh) and Udayagiri (Odisha).
- The expedition will be formally flagged off by former President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind from the iconic Buddhist site Bodh Gaya on 19 February 2025.
- Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, the expedition will be formally flagged off by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ms Harini Amarasuriya, in Jaffna on 5 March 2025, culminating an important visit to three countries bound by the teachings of the Buddha.
