International Day of Women Judges 2025

• International Day of Women Judges is observed every year on March 10.

• The day was introduced to highlight the contribution of women in the judiciary and encourage more women to take up judicial roles.

• In 2021, the United Nations General Assembly established the day, and it was first observed globally in 2022.

• The induction of the first female High Court judge Anna Chandy in 1937 paved the way for equal representation of the sexes across all spheres of civil society in India.

• Then, in 1989, Fathima Beevi became the first female judge of the Supreme Court of India.
