Nepal Rastra Bank's new acting governor

• Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Senior Deputy Governor Dr Neelam Dhungana Timsina has been appointed as the Acting Governor.

• The appointment comes after the completion of the five-year term of former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

• The Finance Ministry, which is headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, has assigned this responsibility to Dr Dhungana.

• The change comes at a time when the process of appointing a new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank is underway.

• The process involves a “Governor Appointment and Recommendation Committee”, which is tasked with proposing the names of potential candidates to the Council of Ministers.
