Veteran singer Kumudini Lakhia passes away

  • With the quiet precision of her feet and an apparent defiance of convention in each performance, Kumudini Lakhia—often referred to as India's own Martha Graham—rewrote the language of Kathak.
  • In 1967, she founded the Kadamba School of Dance and Music, an institute of Indian dance and music.
