India Forecast System launched

  • Union Earth Sciences Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the India Forecast System.
  • It is a high-resolution, fully indigenous weather forecasting platform.
  • It was launched on 26 May 2025 at Vigyan Bhavan.
  • The system has been developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune.
  • It represents a major advance in India's weather forecasting technology.
  • The India Forecast System improves the forecast resolution from 12 km to 6 km.
  • This will enable more accurate weather forecasting at the village level.
