The country's first AI-based bird sanctuary

  • India’s First AI-Based Bird Sanctuary: The country's first AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based bird sanctuary will be developed at the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • The project, named ‘Bhandup Bird Park,’ has received administrative approval for ₹45 crore from the District Planning Committee’s special fund. The initiative aims to promote bird conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and eco-tourism through the use of modern technology.
  • The park will be developed over an area of ​​approximately 20.09 hectares; essential infrastructure will be constructed on only 0.35 hectares, while the remaining area will be preserved for natural habitat and ecological conservation.
  • This approach ensures that environmental conservation is given top priority in the project. The Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary is renowned for its rich biodiversity and diverse bird species, including migratory flamingos.
  • Additionally, it is a wetland of international importance designated as a Ramsar Site, which further enhances the ecological significance of the region.
