- On July 28, Army para commandos gunned down three terrorists on the outskirts of Srinagar under the codename 'Operation Mahadev'.
- One of the dead, Suleman alias Asif, was identified as the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
- The other two, Jibran and Hamza Afghani, were also important targets, and Jibran had links with the Sonamarg tunnel attack in 2024.
- A cache of weapons, including an M4 carbine rifle and two AK rifles, were recovered from the encounter site.
- Additional security forces have also been deployed after intelligence inputs revealed the presence of another group of terrorists in the area.
