- India has successfully test fired the Agni-5 medium-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.
- The test was monitored by the Strategic Forces Command.
- According to the Defence Ministry, the test has confirmed that the missile met all technical and operational parameters.
- The Agni-5 is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and has an estimated range of between 5,000 and 7,000 kilometres.
- This extended reach enables it to strike targets across China as well as select areas in Europe.
- Despite being tested multiple times since 2016, the Agni-5 missile is yet to be inducted into active military service.
