- Ms Sonali Mishra, a 1993 batch IPS officer has been appointed as the Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF).
- This is the first time in the 143-year history of the force that a woman has held the top post.
- Her appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and is valid till her retirement in October 2026.
- She has over 30 years of service experience in various state and central police organisations, including the CBI and BSF.
- Ms Mishra also has international experience, having worked with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo.
- Her previous roles include Additional Director General of the Institute of Police Training and Research and Director of the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy in Bhopal.
