- Dr A. Rajarajan has been appointed as the new Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.
- He assumed charge on August 1 and replaced Dr S Unnikrishnan Nair, who retired on July 31.
- Dr Rajarajan is currently the Director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) and is a seasoned expert of the Indian space programme.
- With nearly 40 years of experience, he is widely known for his expertise in composite materials required for space systems.
- Under his leadership, SDSC (SHAR) carried out significant upgrades in launch infrastructure for major ISRO missions including Human Space Programme (Gaganyaan) and Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV).
