- India's first nitric-oxide-releasing wound dressing, designed for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), was launched by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in collaboration with Cologenesis Private Limited.
- The product, called Colonox, was developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and validated through Phase II and III clinical trials.
- The commercial manufacture of this dressing was approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).
- DAE Secretary and AEC Chairman Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty described this innovation as a significant step towards affordable treatment for diabetic patients.
- The product aims to improve treatment outcomes for individuals suffering from diabetic foot ulcers.
